Port Fairy will surprise and delight you in the most unexpected ways…  below  are a few ways to appease your inner foodie on a Port Fairy holiday.

PREMIUM DINING

Port Fairy will surprise and delight you with the extensive range of food experiences on offer. For those seeking a premium dining experience, head to Gregory’s Cafe for lunch. Chef Brett Holmes is a Port Fairy native, and an experienced and talented Chef. Creating a mouth-watering menu catering for all dietary tastes and requirements, paying homage to local produce, the dilemma at Gregory’s is deciding what to choose on the menu. For dinner, reserve a table at Blake’s Restaurant, further along the road on Bank Street. Their incredibly flavoursome seafood dishes (hot tip: try the local fish with mango salsa), along with their relaxed atmosphere and impeccable service will have you returning again and again.

WHEN FOOD AND ART COLLIDE

A delightful combination, the mixture of art and great food does not disappoint at Time and Tide Gallery. Offering delectable treats paired with an incredible view of the rugged southern ocean, as well as an ever-changing display of inspired local art. Treat yourself and book in for a high tea sitting – a truly indulgent and comforting experience. Nearby Limestone Gallery and Cafe is a hidden oasis, offering a relaxed dining experience looking out over the gardens and sculptures. Spend the day browsing through the gallery, lounging around the peaceful grounds and tasting the delicious food at the onsite cafe.

SEAFOOD SENSATION

Just a few doors up from your home at Edge 17, The Wharf at Port Fairy offers the distinctly Australian seaside fish and chips experience. Perch yourself, enjoy your lunch and watch the comings and goings of the wharf. Friday to Sunday you can head upstairs for a more intimate dining experience, with the upper restaurant offering indoor and outdoor dining, with views spanning over the picturesque Moyne River. Offering a great range of seafood dishes, sit back and relax with a drink whilst watching the fading sunset and the boats gently putting their way along the river.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

If you would like to try your hand at dabbling in cooking, keep your eyes out for regular cooking classes at Conlan’s Wine Store. A trendy and quality restaurant and adjoining boutique wine store, a cooking class at Conlan’s is hands-on, teaching you a range of interesting facts and techniques. After class, enjoy a delicious lunch and wine, sharing your stories with other cooking class students. A cooking class will ensure you leave Port Fairy with new skills guaranteed to impress at your next hosted gathering.

With amazing restaurants and cafes, stunning local wineries and passionate producers, come and explore the foodie wonderland that is south-western Victoria.

Your Port Fairy adventure starts here…

We visited Port Fairy for 2 nights and we were very lucky to find this great little one bedroom apartment right on the river. Our host Brett gave us lots of information about the area including good restaurants to eat at and surrounding areas to visit. The apartment was exceptionally clean, very comfortable with all the extras needed to make our stay a great experience.

Jules & Andre

The apartment is right on the water with views quiet & peaceful. Lovely little town restaurant and fish and chips on the water… also has a 2 bedroom cottage behind which is beautiful… great fishing and make sure you try the Thai in town.
